Valuing yourself & building self-worth
Do you struggle with persistent feelings of self-doubt, inadequacy or a lack of confidence? Low self-esteem can affect every area of life from relationships and career progression to personal happiness and mental wellbeing. My counselling services provide an empathetic, professional approach tailored to your unique needs to help you build self-confidence and develop a healthier self-image.
Understanding low self-esteem
Low self-esteem often develops over time due to negative experiences, criticism, bullying or internalised beliefs about oneself. It can be the result of our childhood, workplace events, relationships, specific people, life experiences or the impact of the media and social media. It can manifest in various ways, including:
– Constant self-criticism and negative self-talk
– Difficulty accepting compliments
– People pleasing tendencies
– Comparing yourself to others and feeling inadequate
– Fear of failure and avoidance of challenges
– Avoiding social situations due to fear of judgment
– Struggling to set boundaries or assert yourself
– Constantly seeking approval from others
– Feeling unworthy of love, success, or happiness
– Unhappiness with your appearance and body image
These patterns can be deeply ingrained and lead to anxiety, depression and isolation. But with the right support, you can challenge and change these beliefs, develop greater self-assurance and a more positive outlook on life.

How counselling can help
My aim is to create a place where you can explore the root causes of low self-esteem and develop practical strategies to improve your self-worth. We will focus on helping you recognise your strengths, develop self-compassion and build resilience. Through personalised support and implementing steps, you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself, replace self-criticism with self-acceptance and make lasting changes to become more confident and fulfilled.
It may feel right now like you will never fulfil your potential or that you are caught in a cycle of thoughts and behaviour that you are unable to change. But I have witnessed how, with the right support and by making one small change after another, it is possible to end years of low self-esteem and be able to feel so much better about both inside yourself and outside in the world around you.
