Face-to-Face Counselling

If you would like to have face-to-face counselling and are based in Cornwall or Devon, I work each week from practice rooms in Plymouth and Tavistock. Both spaces have disabled access and are centrally located with parking options close by and good bus links.

Helping you to move forward

You may be feeling hesitant about starting counselling or have tried it before and found yourself back where you were again. My goal is to ensure you have a positive rewarding experience of counselling. I will provide a supportive space where you can take time for yourself, to explore what you need to move forwards from your current way of feeling.

Some clients come to me having spent years feeling below par, often struggling not just with mental but also with physical ill health. They may have found it hard to make consistent change to the way they are feeling and this has led to them experiencing ongoing issues with anxiety and/or depression. Throw in the odd major life event like relationship difficulties, career problems or a loss and the prospect of achieving what they want on their own terms, true to their core values and goals feels like it’s impossible.

Combining my counselling training, with 15 years experience as a career coach, the findings from my own research and experience of therapy, my approach is completely tailored to your own unique needs and situation. It is rooted in the belief that whilst we can do good work together in our weekly or fortnightly sessions, you need to develop your own ability and resources to manage your thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours during the rest of the week and moving forwards after our sessions together come to an end. That’s why we will focus on supporting you to come to terms with the issues which have brought you to counselling, figure out what you need to work though and make positive, realistic changes to move forwards.

Tracking our progress

Our first step will be to arrange a time for an initial assessment which will be via telephone. This allows us to chat about what brings you to counselling and what your goals are. Choosing the right counsellor is an important decision and this session will also give you the chance to ask any questions and find out if you feel comfortable talking with me.

If you decide to proceed, we will firm up our goals which will regularly review during our work together. These reviews will ensure we monitor our progress, ensure you are still happy with your goals and make any adjustments to how we are working.

We will meet for an hour on either a weekly or fortnightly basis and I can provide short term or open ended counselling to suit your requirements.

Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like any clarification about my services. I know it takes courage to make the decision to seek counselling and it’s important you take your time and choose the right counsellor to work with. You can find some more information about me and my approach here. You may also find my FAQ page helpful where I have put together answers to frequently answered questions about counselling, my prices and what to expect. I look forward to hearing from you.

If you don’t live in Cornwall or Devon and are unable to meet me face-to-face, I also offer telephone counselling and online video counselling.
